Woodland battles C&B in Courts quarters

Woodland cricket club fresh from a 10-wicket victory in their opening round clash of the Courts Inter-Club T20 tournament against Savannah Boys will now battle Tobago side C&B in the quarter-finals Friday night.
Woodland easily took care of Savannah Boys after reaching their target of 107 without loss. Led by South Zone coach Stephen Ramkissoon, the boys from Woodland were not stretched in their opening game. They restricted Savannah Boys to 106 all out and then Siddle Diaz smoked an unbeaten 79 with five sixes to ensure the win.
Another quarter-final match-up will see Marchin Patriots do battle with HYO after they just scraped home in their encounter against NMO. Tariq Abdul played a brilliant hand with both bat and ball for NMO butcould not save his side from a narrow eight-run loss. Patriots batted first and scored 110 for eight with skipper Parram Rampersad getting 32. Abdul was excellent in taking three wickets for five runs in his four overs. Patriots then struck back to reduce NMO to 66/8 but Abdul muscled a few sixes and brought his team within sight of victory with two overs to go. However, Rampersad ran him out for 69 and the game was won by Patriots.
The two quarter-finals will see Dinsley out of Arouca playing Progressive Sports club and Squadron Sports battling Nazarite Sports Club.
The teams are vying for a first prize of $25,000 after Courts furnished the tournament with an investment of $200,000. The crowds have been turning out to these games and players have been enjoying the fun in between the indifferent weather.

At Squadron: Squadron Sports Club 126/6 (20)(Randy Mahase 45, Rivaldo Ramlogan 17, Keagan Simmons 3/21, Valery Charles 3/23) vs All Stars 127/2 (17)(Anderson Richardson 62) – Cunaripo won by 8 wkts.
At Brian Lara Rec: HYO 140/6 (20)(Leonardo Julien 55, Adrian Adams 33, Brian Deosaran 22, Joel Seeteram 2/46) vs Sweet Revenge 115/9 (20)(Shazard Manchur 3/26, Javed Mohammed 2/14) – HYO won by 25 runs.
At Pierre Road: Marchin Patriots 110/8 (Param Rampersad 32, Roshan Parag 19no, Tariq Abdul 3/5) vs NMO 102 all out (18.2)(Tariq Abdul 69, Ryan Hercules 2/17) – Patriots won by 8 runs.

At Tacarigua: Club Crusoe 113 all out (14.5) (Nashad Lutchman 53, Selvin Duncan 19, Kwame Thomas 14, Daniel Singh 2/11, Ravindra Singh 2/23) vs Dinsley 114/3 (13) (Ravindra Singh 39Mark Sankar 33, Rajin Deepakumar 21) – Dinsley won by 7 wkts.
