Warriors to go one better this time says young player

Zishawn Qureshi … excited about CPL 2017

The popular Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 tournament is just weeks away and the Guyana Amazon Warriors will begin their challenge for honours in the United States during the first week of August.

The Warriors have never won the title before and will be seeking their first lien on the trophy this year. Young US player Zishawn Qureshi will be with the Guyana Amazon Warriors team and he thinks they will go all the way this time :”We have a good squad its just about working hard and sticking to our plan but I think we have the players with us to win the title this year.”

Qureshi, a left arm orthodox spinner was kept around the Warriors team last season gaining useful experience :”With the CPL coming to America this is great for our cricket and for me personally, a great opportunity to play with top class players. One of the things I have learnt is that when you play against top class players there is no room for error. You have to be on the spot when you are bowling or else they will take you apart.

“A lot of the work has gone into my game since the last period with the Warriors and I can say I have truly benefited from the experience of being around the unit. I have been training hard leading into this year’s tournament. Fitness has been my focus and I am building the reflexes, with the hope of impressing the coaches this time around.  With the tournament close at hand, I am putting in that extra work with the hope of really taking my game to the next level.”

The CPL according to Qureshi is great news for Americans :”It is great to see how the crowd came out last time and it shows that there is a crowd for cricket in America you just have to put on a good show.

“I play a lot of cricket around the US and I always try to get my friends to come out and look at cricket.”
