T&T under-15 cricket team suffered their third successive loss in the CWI Regional Under-15 tournament, yesterday when they went under to the Leeward Islands by four wickets in Barbados.
Set a target of just 169 runs for victory, the Leewards got a good start from Carlton Tuckett and eased to victory at 169 for six – taking a four-wicket win. Tuckett handled the T&T spinners well and controlled the innings at the top during his 40. He got good support from Anderson Amurdan 25 and T’Jai Clarke 27. The Leewards felt a bit wobbly at 122 for five but Clinton Reece settled their nerves and took them home with an undefeated 19.
Earlier, Darren Samlal who has been one of the standout players for T&T in this tournament, batted sensibly to carve an unbeaten 50 on a slow track. The left hander who grabbed four wickets for 18 runs in the last match, came good with the bat and was able to carry T&T to 168/8 amidst discipline bowling from the Leeward Islanders. At the top of the order right hander Kyle Roopchand struck 22, while skipper Tariq Mohammed notched 21. JaylenFrancis was the best of the bowlers with 2/16.
