LINCOLN, New Zealand – Windies batsman Sunil Ambris spoke to CWI Media after the opening day of the three-day warm-up match against New Zealand A Team.
The 24-year-old topscored with 153 off 145 balls with 24 fours and a six as Windies batted all day to register 451-9 off 90 overs at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval.
Ambris added 155 in 23 overs for the sixth wicket with Shai Hope, who played a number of classy strokes in 108 off 133 balls, with 20 fours and a six.
Ambris them featured in two other solid partnerships: 89 with wicket-keeper Shane Dowrich (35) and 53 with captain Jason Holder (31), as Windies scored 204 runs in the final session.
Earlier Roston Chase made 49 with five fluent boundaries and two straight sixes in a fourth-wicket stand of 91 with Hope.
The match resumes on Sunday at 11am (6pm Saturday Eastern Caribbean Time /5pm Saturday Jamaica Time).
