The 2017 Shell Under-13 cricket series will bowl off today at venues across T&T. This is the final Youth Interzone series to be played this season and organisers are hoping for good weather as the rainy season is here.
South Zone having won the Under-15 and Under-17 titles will be looking for a third title and they begin their challenge against South East at Syne Village in Penal. Coach of the team Keshava Ramphal told windiescricket360.com :”We have a very good team going into this tournament. The South Zone Under-15 won the Shell Interzone title and we have three players from that team in our under-13 set up. We even have a national under-15 player in Avalon Changoor in the team.” The three players from the victorious Under-15 team are Changoor, skipper Liam Mamchan and Jacen Agard.
Ramphal continued :”We have a well balanced team with a couple left arm quicks which is not something you see regularly. We have trained hard and a lot of work has gone into preparing this bunch for competition.”
The other game in Group A will see Central playing hosts to South West at Munroe Road. In Group B, North will come up against North East at Fatima grounds and East plays Tobago at Honeymoon Park.
All matches will be of 40 overs duration and begins at 10am.
