Primus takes Cane Farm into UWI semis

Roshan Primus collects his man of the match award from an official of UWI.

T&T Red Force all rounder Roshan Primus was in fantastic form in the opening clash of the 2018 UWI T20 tournament, as he guided his club Cane Farm to a 54-run win over Club Crusoe on Friday night.

Cane Farm won the toss and lost five wickets in quick succession including Darren Bravo for 23 before Primus was paired with another top all rounder in Rayad Emrit. The Guyana Amazon Warriors pair batted well in tandem in taking the final score to a healthy 179/5 off 20 overs. Primus slammed 72 not out, while Emrit just back from West Indies duties made 48 not out. Earlier Trinbago Knight Riders player Sunil Narine slapped 19.

The pick of the bowlers for the Tobago side Club Crusoe was Akheel Mollon who nabbed 2/22. When Club Crusoe batted they found the going tough and despite 29 from Ancil Nedd, all they could have garnered was 125 all out in 17.1 overs. Anthony Simmons proved to be a handful by taking 3/27, while Tevin Jadoo grabbed 3/27 as well and Primus took 1/14.

With the win Cane Farm moves into the semis and will await the winners of the Alescon Comets versus Central Sports clash. Last night Merryboys were playing hosts UWI in their first round match.
