Nicholson continues to address selectors with century

The first day of round six of the TTCB Premiership three-day series began Saturday with matches across Trinidad. Stealing the headlines were PowerGen batsmen Ewart Nicholson and Nicholas Sookdeosingh, who both made hundreds at Syne Village.
PowerGen closed the first day against crosstown rivals Clarke Road on 354/7 as Sookdeosingh slammed 118 and Nicholson who played for the Red Force towards the back end of the regional PCL, got 106. The left handed Sookdeosingh faced 124 balls with 15 fours and two sixes. Nicholson faced 190 balls, slapping three sixes and six fours.
Leaders Queen’s Park were frustrated by the elements, as rain prevented any play against Tableland at Tableland. On the bright side the players would have gotten plenty rest with the finals of the 50 overs on today.
At Brian Lara Recreation ground, Merryboys were struggling against Central Sports when the rain intervened to affect their innings. They reached 144 for six under good bowling by Kissoondath Magram 2/33 and skipper Shazan Babwah 2/33. Top scoring for Merryboys was Mario Belcon with 52, while Jeetendra Sookdeo is unbeaten on 30.
These matches will continue next Saturday.
