Maniram takes PowerGen to last ball win

iddle order batsman Jerron Maniram scored a brilliant 137 to take PowerGen to an exciting one-wicket victory over Central Sports in the TTCB Premiership 50 overs tournament at Felicity.
Central Sports batted first and scored 254/7 in their 50 overs with the veteran Shazan Babwah making 54, Dennis Smith 41, Kamil Pooran 27 and Dave Samooj 30 not out. Akeal Cooper grabbed 3/30 to be the pick of the PowerGen bowlers. The Southern outfit then lost quick wickets until Maniram and wicketkeeper Gibran Mohammed (28) got together. They took the score from 78 for five to 189 – adding 111 runs for the sixth wicket. Just before the victory was formalised Maniram was run out for 137 of 122 balls with 16 fours and three sixes. Babwah came good with the ball, taking 4/38 and nearly handed his team victory but PowerGen prevailed in the end.
Elsewhere, there were victories for Queen’s Park over Alescon Comets at the Queen’s Park Oval and Merryboys over Clarke Road at Wilson Road in Penal.

At the Oval: QPCC 157 all out(38.3) (Daron Cruickshank 57, Akeal Hosein 20, R Emrit 3/15, I Mohammed 4/11) vs Comets 104 all out (29.3)(W George 35, Akeal Hosein 3/5, Terrence Hinds 3/30, K Cooper 2/18) – QPCC won by 53 runs.
 
At Wilson Road: Clarke Road 108 all out (28.5) (Kerry Holness 40, Aneil Kanhai 3/37, Amir Khan 2/19, Jeetendra Sookdeo 2/7) vs Merryboys 110/4 (Amir Khan 37no, R Harris 30, A Mollon 4/30) – Merryboys won by 6 wkts.

At Felicity: Central Sports 254/7 (50)(Shazan Babwah 54, Dennis Smith 41, Kamil Pooran 27, Dave Samooj 30no, Akeal Cooper 3/30) vs PowerGen 255/9 (50) (Jerron Maniram 137, Gibran Mohammed 28, Shazan Babwah 4/38) – PowerGen won by 1 wkt.
