US player Jaskaran Malothra scored his second successive century of the US Open T20 tournament on Thursday, when he smashed an even unbeaten 100 against MichCA XI to lead his team to an 89-run win at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill.
Malothra made an unbeaten 118 against the Tampa Rebels on Wednesday night, as his team got back on track after losing their first game against the California Bears.
After an opening partnership of 41 between the Bravo brothers Dwayne and Darren, Malothra came in and overshadowed his more illustrious partner Dwayne Bravo, as they took full advantage of some indiscipline bowling by the the Rebels.
Dwayne Bravo left the arena for 58 of 41 balls that included four sixes and four fours. Malothra was in the form of his life, as he carved nine sixes and five fours in 100 not out from just 45 balls. In the end the US All Stars who are defending the title reached 207 for three in their 20 overs.
In reply, all the Rebels could only reply with 118 all out, as Rajesh Sharma the former Indian Premier League (IPL) bowler, starred with 4/43. There were also wickets apiece for Junaid Siddique from Canada and Pakistan’s Atif Ahmed. With the win the US All Stars move into the quarter-finals.
