Deepak Kumar slammed an unbeaten 44 to rescue EYM and led them to a 14-run victory over Valleyboys in the latest clash of the Central Superleague T20 tournament at Pierre Road in Charlieville.

Batting first, EYM made 135 for five of 15 overs in a rain affected match. EYM lost five early wickets to be reduced to 53 for five, before Kumar and Ryan Ramasray got together to add an unbeaten 82 runs for the sixth wicket in just eight overs. Kumar slapped three sixes and three fours, while Ramasray notched two sixes and a four. There were two wickets apiece for Justin Gangoo and the veteran Shazan Babwah.

When Valleyboys took to the crease they were well on the way at 50/1 before a collapse saw them restricted to 121 for seven of their 15 overs. Babwah at the top of the order scored 26, while Gyd Goolie made 29. After they left only Azhrudeen Mohammed the brother of West Indies player Jason Mohammed made an impression with 23. Shakeel Prince and Selvin Jacobs each took two wickets to keep Valleyboys in check.

EYM 135/5 (15ovs) (Deepak Kumar 44no, Ryan Ramasray 31no, Kwasi Alfred 19, Justin Gangoo 2/18, Shazan Babwah 2/24) vs Valleyboys 121/7 (15ovs) (Gyd Goolie 29, Shazan Babwah 26, Azhrudeen Mohammed 23, Shakeel Prince 2/25, Selvin Jacobs 2/28) – EYM won by 14 runs.
