Chase carries Windies to 218/5

All rounder Roston Chase continued his impressive form in the Brighto Cup Test series against Pakistan, as he followed his century in the last Test and four wickets in the first innings with 60 retired hurt, as the West Indies replying to Pakistan’s 376 all out, closed on 218/5 at the end of the third day of the third and final Test in Dominica.
Starting the day on 11 without loss, the West Indies got a decent start of 43 before losing left hander Keiran Powell for 31. The Nevis batsman looked good but again fell when looking well set. Young aggressive Guyanese player Shemron Hetmyer was up next but after striking a six and a four was dismissed by Yasir Shah for 17. Kraigg Brathwaite then fell for 29 to be followed by Shai Hope for a similar score. The entire top order of the West Indies batting line up got starts but just did not carry on.
Chase however took the fight to Pakistan and was the only one that showed permanence. The right hander looked well set to register another Test century when he was struck by a Mohammed Amir bouncer on the elbow and had to leave the ground.
Newcomer Vishaul Singh continued his struggles and made just eight before falling to Mohammad Abas.
Fortunately for the West Indies, Holder and Dowrich showed the same determination to ensure they didn’t go in to stumps having suffered any other blows in the face of a masterclass in discipline from the Pakistan pacers. Amir, in particular, continued to carry menace with the sort of short delivery that had injured Chase, striking Holder in the chest area once, and cramping both batsmen with the bouncer time and again.
