The winning Central Zone team before their clash against defending champs South.

Central Zone defeated defending
champions South Zone by 65 runs in the opening match of the 2018 Shell Interzone series at Syne Village in Penal on Wednesday.

Batting first, Central slipped to 87 for seven before finally reaching 131 all out. Leading the way was Ronnielstar Perreira who scored 30. The pick of the South bowlers were Avalon Changoor 3/39, Kendal Poochoon 2/15 and Aaron Amrow 2/2. Left the relatively simple task of getting 132,
South fell under the Central spinners trap and was all out for 66.

Ronnielstar returned with the ball to create havoc in claiming five wickets for just 13 runs, to give Central the win.

In the other Group A clash, North
got the better of East at St. Mary’s ground on Serpentine Road. Sachin Emrit 29 and Christian Mack 29 not out, took North to 156 all out as they took first strike. Navindra Ramlal bowling for East was the best of attack taking 3/19. Ramlal then top scored with 17 but Joshua David proved too much taking 4/15 to undermine their top order, as they folded for 89.

a good game against North East, winning the match by 123 runs at Sancho Road in St. Julien. Skipper Khaleem Mohammed with 43 and Mario King 31, took them to 198 all out.
