Red Force all rounder Yannic Carriah was on fire with the ball, grabbing five wickets to take Same Side to a 32-run victory in the latest clash of the Powerade Central Superleague T20 tournament at Pierre Road in Charlieville on Wednesday.
The right arm leg-spinner proved too much for Valley Boys, who succumbed to 100 all out in pursuit of 133 runs for victory. Same Side batted first and got to 132 for nine of their 20 overs with former national and West Indies player Lincoln Roberts making 33 and Travis Karim 25. Daniel Williams chipped in with an aggressive 21 towards the end. Another veteran in the form of the evergreen Shazan Babwah was the pick of the bowlers taking five wickets for 19 runs. When Valley Boys batted Babwah, who is their mainstay in the batting failed and although Ihiley Smith 26 and Chris Goomansingh 22, showed some fight, Carriah was too much on the night. He prised out 5/20 and got good support from Tariq Abdul who snared three wickets for six runs.
The popular tournament organised by national cricketers Rayad Emrit and Steven Katwaroo continues nightly and features some of the biggest names in T20 cricket in Trinidad.
