Bandoo sends Naps to Intercol finals

Spinner Randy Bandoo with a brilliant spell of three wickets for four runs, has bowled Naparima College into the finals of the 2017 PowerGen Secondary Schools Intercol finals.
Bandoo’s effort enabled Naparima College to defeat Shiva Boys in the semi-finals on Thursday at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva. Batting first Shiva Boys made 94 for eight in their allotted 20 overs. Leading the way for the Penal school was Isaiah Gomez with 22, while Rajiv Gosein made 21. Bandoo bowled his two overs at a cost of four runs and grabbed three wickets. Justin George was also in form grabbing two wickets.
When Naps took to the crease, skipper Cephas Cooper guided the ship nicely, with 43, as his team reached their target at 95 for two of 15.4 overs. Avinash Mahabirsingh counted an unbeaten 29 and he added 83 runs for the second wicket with Cooper.
Naparima will now meet Hillview College in the title match on Friday evening at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva from 7pm.
President of the SSCL, Surujdath Mahabir said the tournament has been without incident and he is hoping for a grand finish on Friday. “We have had an excellent Intercol this year and I want to congratulate both teams for reaching the finals. The quality of play in the SSCL has been very good this season and we have had great interest in the tournament. We are inviting fans to come out on Friday night to witness the future in action and we are all looking towards a great celebration of cricket at the NCC.
