Bonne Aventure Presbyterian student Aby Bando slammed a brilliant 123 not out to lead her school to the Atlantic Primary School Victoria Educational Under 14 title.
Bando scored her century against Rochard Douglas Presbyterian – as her school went on to record a 44-run victory to take the title.
Rochard Douglas Presbyterian won the toss and decided to insert Bonne Aventure, a decision they must have regretted after Bando started to get amongst the bowlers. After 20 overs, with her school matches cheering her on, Bando took her school to 223 for one. She was well supported by Manda Farrow who scored 26 not out.
This target proved too tough for Rochard Douglas as they responded well short at 179 all out. Farrow came back after her solid batting, to be destructive with the ball and claimed 4/33 to send Rochard Douglas spiralling. Emily Singh with 28 and Kavita Deodath 19 put up a flight but it was not enough.
Bando’s effort while very good was still short of the highest score for her school of 163 made by Yolanda Williams.
Farrow continued a great tradition for her family in sphere of sport and cricket, as both her siblings Reanna and Reneille Farrow now play on the national under 19 girls cricket team.
